VIEGA DELIVERS NEW TECHNOLOGY
FOR EASIER COPPER TUBE PRESSING
Viega continues to deliver innovation
in its Propress copper tube pressing
technology with both gas and water
system fi ttings available in the range
of DN15 to DN100, plus a choice of two
Swiss manufactured battery operated
pressing tools.
Feedback from customers and continuing research
and development from Viega has lead to the
development of a DN32 jaw to suit the Picco tool,
which will become widely available during March
2012.
Robert Hardgrove, Business Development Manager
for Crane Copper Tube said,
“Statistics on fi tting usage suggest that this
will make the lightweight Picco tool much more
attractive to a wider range of plumbers and
mechanical services companies.
“We expect that major contractors will start using
a combination of Picco and 4B tools since the Picco
is half the size of the 4B, has an overall length
including jaw of just 350mm, weighs only 2.5kg and
is beautifully balanced for one hand operation.
“The Pressgun 4B will then be predominantly used
on projects with DN40 to DN100, although they will
still be able to use it on the full range of sizes when
appropriate,” he said.
ANOTHER INNOVATION
FROM VIEGA WILL BE THE
INTRODUCTION OF RING
JAW SETS FOR PRESSING
DN15 TO DN32 FOR USE
WITH THE PICCO TOOL
AND DN15 TO DN50 RING
JAW SETS FOR USE WITH
THE 4B TOOL.
The individual ring jaws can be placed around
joints that are very close to surfaces and other
obstructions, and pressed using a clamping jaw
fi tted to the pressing tool.
During pressing the combination of a 360°
positionable ring jaw, a 180° rotatable tool head
and the 180° tool pivoting range makes virtually any
tight spot accessible. The ring jaws are particularly
convenient in repair/refurbishment work where
access is often limited.
“Users really appreciate the ease and speed that
jaws can be changed on the Viega tools, as well
as the electronic warnings and jaw bolt monitoring
which prevent damage and pressing failures.
“Viega tools can also now be fully serviced in
Australia, have a service interval of four years and
can provide up to 66% more pressings per service
than competing equipment,” said Robert Hardgrove.
